RULES & REGULATIONS

Eligibility
• Contestant must be under 28 years of age on the day of the competition.
• Contestant must be of Junior Hairdresser.
• Employees of Elite Expo Sdn. Bhd, sponsors, the independent judges, student affiliated with independent judges’ hair academy,
and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in this competition.

Can I enter more than one category?
• Junior Contestant can choose to enter up to all two categories, with the condition that contestant must be under 28 years of age on
the day of the competition.
• Contestant can only submit one (1) entry for each category.

Entry Photographic
• All the contestant must submit photograph of your creation according to the theme for each category.
• Entries for IBE Hairdresser Awards 2009 must solely on your own creation and have not been published, used, entered in or    submitted to any other competition.
• Computer retouching or modification is strictly disallowed.
• All contestant should submit a total of 4 photos according to the requirement as below:
      (a) Photographic size : 4R (10cm x 25cm with a resolution of 300dpi)
      (b) One Before (Full head and shoulder)
      (c) Three After (1 Full Body, 1 Half Body and 1 close up head shot)
      (d) Save your creation in hi-resolution digital format (JPEG or TIFF file) with a capacity of 3MB. Please label your CD-rom with your             name, salon name and contact number.
• The Organizer reserve the right to use winners’ names and/or photograph for the purpose of publicity, advertising and in any    promotional materials without further notice or compensation either.

Model
• All the contestant must provide their own female/male model for competition use.
• All models expenses involved during pre-preparation and during competition day are on contestant responsibility.
• All models’ dressing/ costume/ accessories must be according to the theme for each category.

Entry Requirement
• Please summit your entries form, photographic, one photocopy of your Identification Card, and bank in slip to the following mailing address before 5 May 2009:

• Contestant may choose to make payment for registration fee by cheque or cash make payable to:

• Photocopies of entry form are not accepted.
• Your entry form must be submitted together with your salon owner/ superior signature, as well as your salon stamp.
• Contestant will be notified via phone upon the Organizer received the photo submission entries.
• Every contestant shall receive confirmation number via sms as prove of participant.

Entry Deadline: 5 May 2009
Any entries received after 5 May 2009 will not be accepted

Judging and Notification
• All photographic entries submission will be preliminary judged by a panel of independent judges
• Score will be based on the following criteria for each category:

(i) Commercial Style Category : Asymmetric Cut Style

      Haircut Technique - 40%
      Hair Blow Technique - 20%
      Hair Dye Technique - 15%
      Overall Image - 25%

(a) Preliminary Round
• Only for individual participation.
• Photograph should demonstrate progressive styling which emphasize on trend setting and innovation according to the creative theme.
• Further important points of consideration include quality of photography, selection of model, costumes, and overall make-up.
• Interpretation of the theme must be featured in the hairstyle creation, makeup, costume and overall image.

(b) Semi-Final
• 25 contestants will be selected from the preliminary round and proceed to Semi-Final competition on 17 May 2009, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
• Contestants have to perform live on their hairdressing skill which needs to be at least 80% similarity to the photograph entry creation which being selected.

(c) Grand Final
• 10 finalists will be short listed for Commercial Category and proceed to the Grand Final of IBE Hairdresser Awards on 19 May 2009.
• During Grand Final, Finalist will have to perform live on their new creation based on the same theme on the same model.

(ii) Fantasy Open Category : Passionate Retro

      Creativity of Theme Interpretation - 40%
      Hair Accessories - 10%
      Teamwork - 10%
      Overall Image - 40%

(a) Preliminary Round
• A maximum of 3 people in a team.
• Photograph should demonstrate progressive styling which emphasize on trend setting and innovation according to the
creative theme.
• Further important points of consideration include quality of photography, selection of model, costumes, and overall make-up.
• Interpretation of the theme must be featured in the hairstyle creation, makeup, costume and overall image.

(c) Grand Final
• 10 finalists will be short listed for Fantasy Open Category and proceed to the Grand Final of IBE Hairdresser Awards on 19 May 2009.
• During Grand Final, Finalist will have to perform live on their new creation based on the same theme on the same model.

Tools
• All contestant must provide your own tools and equipment whenever necessary to complete their hair creation during competition.
